The Fernwood Yoga Den is a social enterprise yoga community centre in Fernwood NRG’s new building at 1310 Gladstone Ave. After six years in the Cornerstone Building, the Yoga Den moved across the street to this new space—quiet, filled with light, spacious and high-ceilinged.
In 2006, Rachel Sadava started seeking ways to make yoga more accessible for the folks she was working with as a front-line social worker, and in 2012 she founded the Yoga Den.
The Yoga Den is a space where all members of the community are warmly welcomed – a place where everyone is included and we can share in the transformational practice of yoga together. We offer a wide variety of yoga classes for every practitioner and a Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Teacher Training Program.
Holistic, embodied wellness is enhanced by Maya Health, offering massage, acupuncture and other services from treatments rooms inside the Yoga Den.
The Brahmanda School of Yoga also operates out of the den—Katyanna Ryan joined the studio very soon after opening, bringing a very traditional style from her training in India which complements Rachel’s approach. They both believe that it is the teacher’s job to create a space that is accessible, inclusive and safe, where people can find what they need in the practice of yoga.
