The volunteer organizers of the Vining Street Party On The Plaza (VS POP) are pleased to announce the launch of a ‘Fernwood MARKET’ on the grounds of Victoria High School, 1260 Grant Street, Fridays 4:00 – 8:00pm.
Our objective is to stimulate and build the local economy, foster community, and offer local and regional growers, home based businesses, crafters, artists and artisans the opportunity to meet the public. Child and adult entertainment will be offered.
The Fernwood MARKET will open May 29, 2015 and operate every Friday from 4:00 – 8:00pm until September 4, 2015. The last MARKET of 2015 will be part of the 8th Annual Vining Strett PARTY on the PLAZA, Sunday September 13, 1:00 – 9:00pm.
Vendors are encouraged to reserve space in advance of market day. Venders are responsible for supplying their own tents, tables, chairs, waste receptacles and extension cords. There will be access to water, power, toilet, an unloading area and parking.
The fee structure for the Fernwood Market is as follows:
- Single MARKET: $30 per MARKET
- 3 MARKETS: $75 ($25 per MARKET)
- ALL 16 MARKETS: $320 ($20 per MARKET)
Please Note Young Entrepreneurs (15-18) are offered a special flat fee of $15 per MARKET. Please Note Not for profit, educational or community organizations or exhibitors are welcome to set up for a $20 fee. Proof of liability insurance requested.
Vendors are encouraged to make, bake or grow products or provide the services themselves. Drop in spaces will be available.
Payment by cash or cheque (to Laurie Rubin, #3, 1318 Vining Street, Victoria, V8R 1P6) is due one week before each Friday MARKET DAY. For the VS POP day, payment can be cash, cheque or an item donated to the silent auction.

A detailed map showing the spaces (Space 10’X10”) available on the Plaza and tennis court areas (adjacent to the Fairey Tech building of Victoria High School off of Fernwood Rd between Grant and Gladstone) will be provided ASAP. Please consider visiting the school so that when the map comes out you will be able to choose a location that suits your needs.
Advertising and promotion of Fernwood MARKET will be placed via FACEBOOK, WEBSITES, MEDIA OUTLETS, COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS. There will be signage on site as well. Each household, Pandora to Bay, Cook to Shelbourne will receive a promotional flyer prior to the first MARKET.

**Any revenue derived from the Fernwood MARKET will go the Vining Street PARTY on the PLAZA-VS POP’s designated charities for 2015: Learning Disabilities Association of South Vancouver Island (LDA-SVI) and Puppets for Peace (P4P).
