Thanks to Brittany Staddon for sharing these beautiful photos and words about our neighbourhood. Check out her blog for more of her handy work.

‘Victoria is like therapy. Just being there, nestled near the water, in a quirky little neighbourhood with fascinating people, good food, and a ridiculous number of retirees. My favourite book of all time How to be a Canadian by Will and Ian Ferguson describes it quite perfectly.

Victoria, a sun-dappled outpost of Olde Englande, complete with double-decker buses and afternoon tea – served with tofu burgers and soy milk. Victoria’s municipal motto: “Snow? What is this thing you call snow?” Favourite pastime? Making crank calls. (That is, phoning up the other provinces in the middle of February to ask if the flowers are blooming where they are and then laughing and hanging up.) Victoria: Home of the newly wed, the nearly dead and the under fed.

Enjoy!’
