The Gift of Good Food is no ordinary fundraiser — unless you regularly drink beer or do yoga or make holiday wreaths for charity.

The entire community is getting behind raising enough money to supply 200 local families with fresh fruits and vegetables for the entire year. That means there is a way for everyone to contribute.

1) Try a new Yoga Studio

Attend a Karma Class in December at the Fernwood Yoga Den or The Fernwood Community Centre, where all proceeds are donated to The Gift of Good Food. Your first class at ONE Yoga Victoria is by-donation in December with all proceeds are donated to The Gift of Good Food.

2) Attend an Art Show

Come to BULLY Design Company on Pandora Street for the “Dead or Alive” art show by the Dobell Brothers. All drink sales will be donated to the Gift of Good Food.

3) Cozy up at a Movie Night

ALIVE MindBody Yoga is hosting a movie night at their lovely studio on Cook Street in North Park Village. Join us on December 7th for a movie night with friends! Entry is by-donation and all food and drink sales will benefit The Gift of Good Food.

4) Go to the Oaklands West Coast Winter Market

What better way to get into the Holiday Season than to go to a local artisan market? Oaklands Community Association always brings a wonderful selection of makers. It’s $3 at the door, and all proceeds will help support a family with fresh fruits and vegetables.

5) Buy groceries at The Root Cellar

If you buy or reload a $50 or $100 Gift Card from November 24-30th, 10% will be donated to The Gift of Good Food.

6) Enjoy a 3-course Dinner

Olive the Senses is offering a 3-course dinner with wine pairings, made with produce from the Good Food Box. Tickets are $100/person – this delightful evening will provide two families with fresh fruits and vegetables for all of next year!

The Fernwood Inn is hosting a Bingo night on Sunday, December 4th at 7pm, with all proceeds going towards The Gift of Good Food. Come out, enjoy friends and win sweet prizes!

8) Make Holiday Wreaths

Learn how to create home décor items such as wreaths, ornaments and arrangements using seasonal foliage. Fairfield Gonzales Community Association and the Fairfield Food Forest are hosting a Winter Greenery Workshop with all proceeds going towards The Gift of Good Food.

9) Deck yourself or a friend out with Vintage Sunnies

GooGoo Goggles will be selling “Glasses Care and Repair Kits,” perfect for holiday gifts or stocking stuffers. These kits will include: a Goo Goo glasses case, cleaning cloth, cleaning spray bottle, and keychain screwdriver. Kits are $10 and for every one sold, $5 will go to the cause! These will be on sale until December 23rd – go check ‘em out at 761 Fort Street.

10) Pledge for Shambhala Centre Community Sit-a-Thon

The Victoria Shambhala Centre hosts a Community Sit-A-Thon every year where their members sit for 12 hours straight. They are taking pledges for their annual fundraiser, half the proceeds go to Victoria Shambhala Centre and half go towards their community for the Gift of Good Food.

11) Drink Beer

For the month of December, all tasting donations at Phillips Brewery will go towards The Gift of Good Food. Head on down and try their fabulous selection! (Big thanks also to Hoyne Brewing Company for matching tasting donations for the month of October. Their donations totaled $2,075!) We love our local breweries!

12) Lighten your pockets at a Donation Box

We’ve got plenty of local businesses that are hosting Donation Boxes. Looking to support a local business with interests in their community? Check out Aubergine Specialty Foods, Fernwood Health and Performance, North Park Bikes, Ocean Grown Medicinal Society, Olive the Senses, Shatterbox Café, SOMA Active Health, TREES, Vegas Convenience Store and Vinyl Envy.

13) Host a fundraiser!

Throw your own party, sell some stuff, and support your community. What’s better than getting together with friends and supporting a local cause?

14) Become a Fundraising Team Captain

Don’t have money to spare but believe in the cause? Coax your friends, co-workers and teammates to pay up! Get your cute niece to go door-to-door. It’s been done.

15) Donate online

Go to thegiftofgoodfood.ca/donate and donate online. Our goal is to raise $100,000 to support 200 families with fresh fruits and vegetables for all of 2017. Please join us!
