Deadline October 31, 2017

Did you recently attend the Fernwood Resilient Streets Kick-off workshop? Interested in building more connections with your neighbours on your street or in your apartment/condomium building? Got some ideas on how to build community & resilience with your neighbours that you want to make happen?

If you live in Greater Victoria, then you can apply for an easy-to-access Resilient Streets micro-grant. Fernwood is a Resilient Streets host neighbourhood where Building Resilient Neighbourhoods is offering 2 types of micro-grants to help you get started. Find out more and apply HERE for either of them.

1) A $50 Neighbour “Pre-Planning” Gathering (think “Party with a Purpose!”)

WANT TO BUILD CONNECTIONS AND RESILIENCE WITH YOUR NEIGHBOURS, BUT NOT SURE WHAT TO DO? The Resilient Streets “Pre-planning” Neighbour Gathering micro-grant is specifically to support people in bringing neighbours together to build relationships and identify what type of projects neighbours are interested in undertaking together. Some examples of how people have previously used these grants include living room conversations, pancake breakfasts, street/building BBQ, block parties, and potlucks to name a few. At several of these gatherings neighbours identified other projects they wanted to do together and then later applied for a Resilient Streets project micro-grant to make it happen!

2) Up to $200 for a Resilient Streets Project micro-grant

ALREADY CONNECTED WITH YOUR NEIGHBOURS AND WANT TO DO A PROJECT TOGETHER? The Resilient Streets Project micro-grant provides support for neighbours to work together on a small project in their building or on their street that enhances connections and resilience. Some examples of how people have previously used these grants include building little free libraries, street murals, benches to facilitate socializing between neighbours, materials for skills sharing between neighbours, and hosting a “party with a purpose” where immediate neighbours learn together about topics such as emergency preparedness or energy
