Neighbourhood artists and musicians wanted to brighten the Cornerstone Cafe.
The Cornerstone Café has seen some changes recently. There have been renovations, a movie or two, new faces, neighbours and ingredients but still serving the same great (Discovery) coffee. Now that things have settled a little bit, we are excited to announce the return of rotating art and events at the café.
As we start to book artists and events, please make sure to follow the Cornerstone Café on Facebook and Instagram. We will also be populating our community calendar with Cornerstone happenings.
Starting soon, we will once again be showcasing local talent with art showings, music nights and various events. We are currently showing the work of local artist, Mila Czemerys (see more here). Please come by to check out one of her many talents.
Bluegrass on Wednesday evenings has inspired us to include more local talent in our café throughout the week. If you’d like to book the Cornerstone for a performance, educational seminar, craft night, or have some board games you’d like to bring, see below for contact information or come and chat with Cornerstone Café Manager, Thom McCann.
In other Cornerstone related news, the Cornerstone Building will also be celebrating its 10th Anniversary since Fernwood Neighbourhood Resource Group Society purchased the building. With 10, 000 volunteer hours, the abandoned building was turned into a community hub with social enterprises, affordable housing for families and rental spaces for amazing businesses. Fernwood NRG’s Executive Director, Lee Herrin, will be giving a talk reflecting on ten years of the Cornerstone Building on Wednesday, September 16th at 7:30pm in the Fernwood Community Centre.
Remember, you can now enjoy everything at the Cornerstone with a pizza and beer. We look forward to meeting all the creatives in the neighbourhood!
