Bu VonBlume is funk. Bu VonBlume is disco. Bu VonBlume is cumbia, punk, ska, soul, balkan. Whatever it takes to get the people moving and grooving, really. Vancouver Island multi-instrumentalist Lou Kinglish (normally an accordion player) teamed up with some of the heaviest hitting funk, brass, jazz and punk virtuosos around to create Bu VonBlume; a band that mixes hilarious theatre antics with downright dangerous bass and horn lines to cook up a real dance fiasco. Almost every song features an interactive gimmick of some kind, inviting the audience to join along in the fun, a truly unique and engaging spectacle. Since forming in 2022, Bu VonBlume has been approached to play many the festival and public event, where people come for the dance and the improvisational mysteries and stay for the giant toothbrush (there’s a giant toothbrush). Bring your dancing shoes and wear something outrageous, there will be funk.
