The Canada Dental Plan is here!

The Canada Dental Care Plan is here! This means free dental care will now be provided to seniors, people with disabilities and children under 18. This public healthcare expansion will be the largest Canadians have seen in half a century – with over 9 million individuals securing the essential care that they need.
If your family’s net income is below $70,000, 100% of eligible oral health service costs will be covered by the Dental Care Plan. Subsequently, if your net income is below $80,000, 60% of service costs will be covered and if your net income is below $90,000, 40% of service costs will be covered.
Preventative services like routine cleanings, restorative services such as fillings and oral surgery services including extractions will all be covered by this Care Plan.
When I meet with constituents, many share the stress they feel around the current cost of living. Millions of Canadians do not have dental insurance and have been paying out of pocket or avoiding appointments and the associated expense altogether.
Our NDP team knows that no one should be excluded from essential health appointments due to the cost. We will continue pushing to ensure that this comprehensive coverage will soon be available to every Canadian so that you and your loved ones will have access to care.
Seniors aged 70 and older will start to receive coverage as early as May of this year. In the coming days, you will receive an eligibility letter in the mail with your application code, a phone number to call and more information on next steps ahead of your next dental appointment.
