A group of Fernwood neighbours are giving out 100 bird house kits for free.
“What’s the catch?”
No catch. The group applied and received an Everyday Creativity Grant from the City of Victoria to host a free bird house building event at Harris Green Park. We wanted to bring the Fernwood community together and highlight the beauty and potential of Harris Green. In light of all things COVID (yes, we’re tired of it, too and we’re making the best of it), we changed our plans to give out the bird house kits to be assembled and decorated in the safety of people’s homes.
“When and where can I get a bird house kit?”
On May 16, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., a table will be set up in Harris Green Park on Chambers Street between Pandora Avenues. Bird house kits along with assembly instructions will be given on a first-come, first-served basis (limit one per family). Please remember to mask up when picking up.

“More?”
Posted pictures of the assembled and decorated bird houses on Fernwood NRG’s facebook page will be automatically entered to win one of three $50 gift certificates for Wild Birds Unlimited. The draw will take place and the winners notified on May 23, 2021.
