Presentation – Food Forests in the City: Lessons from North America’s largest Food Forest!
Join us for an inspiring and informative evening with Jenny Pell as she details exciting community-driven food security initiatives in Washington and Oregon. She will tell us the story of how Seattle’s Beacon Hill Food Forest, a 7-acre parcel that is being developed as the largest public food forest in all of North America. Jenny will detail the process of this community initiative, taking us through the step by step process of working with community and city officials to realize the dream of a public food forest, allowing us to draw lessons from their experience. She will also discuss other permaculture and food security projects that are changing the landscape and cultures of our cities and towns.

Workshop – Design Your Own Backyard Food Forest
Want to create your own urban food forest? Join permaculture expert Jenny Pell and learn how to create your own urban food forest. Jenny will walk you through the basic design stages, highlighting flow, access, zones and sectors. You will leave this workshop with a good working knowledge of how to design your own food forest, along with your own design and plant lists, ready to install your very own food forest this spring!

About Jenny Pell
Jenny is a permaculture designer, consultant and educator, with many years experience in natural building, design, and community living. Based out of Seattle, Jenny manages many of the Permaculture Now! projects, and works in Washington State, Central America, Hawaii, and Europe. Jenny’s belief is that permaculture is one of the most common-sense and creative approaches to designing human settlements in any time, but especially now.
