Fernwood NRG has invited food journalist Don Genova to present on The New Urban Food Culture.
Victoria is lucky to have a very rich food culture. We have the second most restaurants per capita in North America; second only to San Fransisco! Our climate is ideal for gardening and growing food almost all year round. We have great local farmers and farmer’s markets, specialty food producers, lots of wineries, breweries and distilleries, cheese makers, bee keepers–you get the picture.
In the past decade, urban agriculture has exploded in people’s backyards, on rooftops, boulevards and walls, in school yards and the extra space behind restaurants. City dwellers are getting more excited and knowledgeable about what they are eating and where it comes from.
Come be inspired by this trend and learn more about Fernwood NRG’s plans to move in this direction.
When: November 21, 2012 at 7:30pm
Where: Fernwood Community Centre, 1240 Gladstone Avenue
