We are excited to partner with the City’s Get Growing, Victoria! seedling program to help distribute over 75,000 vegetables and herb seedlings to communities, with a priority of supporting folks who have been disproportionally impacted by COVID-19.

What is being grown?
This program will provide a selection of the top 17 vegetable and herb starts for easy growing by the novice gardener, and suitable for a variety of locations, such as garden beds in yards or container gardening on decks and balconies.
The selection includes a variety of cucumbers, zucchini, squash, cabbage, broccoli, cabbage, mustard greens, chard, kale, tomatoes, parsley and lettuce.

Who is eligible to receive plants?
The program aims to support communities that want to grow food at home, but that may be facing barriers to access to food plants and garden materials or who are facing barriers to access fresh, locally grown food. This program supports communities that include, but are not limited to, those who have experienced loss of work due to COVID-19, indigenous communities, immunocompromised, people living with a disability, seniors, at-risk youth, families in need, and/or people who self-identify as food insecure.

Based on this criteria, we are currently trying to assess the need for this service in our neighbourhood.

Here is what we need from you:
1) If you identify as eligible please email us at info@fernwoodnrg.ca
2) Share this information to help us reach as many people as possible
3) Tell your friends! (good ol’ fashion word of mouth)
