Let’s connect with our community through photography! But wait, we all have questions before…
What is a Photovoice?
It’s a powerful tool for everyone, it aims to promote communities and social change, blending photography and storytelling.
What’s Fernwood Photovoice going to be about?
This is a community-centered initiative—we want the community to share what the Community Dinner and Fernwood means for us, through photos.
There are no good or bad photos, it’s not about quality, it’s about our sense of community.
How will we do it?
- In-PERSON:
When: Every Monday at the Community Dinner from 5:30pm to 7:00pm
Where: Fernwood Community Centre Gym
Photo Dialogues: We can lend you digital and instant cameras or you can bring your own camera or use your cell phone.
Field of Pics: Photo Dialogues for children and youth!
- By E-MAIL:
How: You can also send us your photos by email of the Community Dinner or Fernwood to Christian.C@fernwoodnrg.ca. Please write what the photo means to you in 2 lines. (Or, get in touch if you have any questions).
- Bonus Sessions:
Depending on the number of people interested in other in-person sessions, we will open more photo dialogues on other days and times according to what best suits you.
And what’s next after that?…
Guess what! After this project, we will have:
- Photography Workshops: On digital photography, cell phone photography, or instant camera photography—the community will decide.
- Photo Committee: You, your friends, and family will decide the name of the photovoice installation exhibition and more.
- Exhibition of our pics!
Cost? No cost, it’s FREE
And remember, there is no age limit. You don’t have to be an expert in photography. You don’t even have to have a camera. This is our way of seeing ourselves as a community.
Thank you again for joining us!
