Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People is proud to announce our upcoming Family Theatre Festival, taking place on June 9th and 10th at the Belfry Theatre, and June 16th in Langford.
For our sixth year, Kaleidoscope is delighted to be expanding our festival, reaching out to new communities and areas. In Victoria, we have partnered with the Belfry Theatre to bring four productions to life over the weekend of June 9th and 10th, running from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Kaleidoscope will be premiering “When the Sun Crosses the Line”. Touching, loving and historical, this new work by Kaleidoscope Theatre’s artistic director, Roderick Glanville, does not shy away from some tough questions.
“I feel it’s important for us to understand the complex issues of what reconciliation really means to those that may be afraid to ask,” Roderick explains. “Knowing our history changes our future. In our play, June, a thirteen-year-old girl, asks those tough questions that are often the ‘Elephant in the Room’.”
Kaleidoscope will also be joined by four of our wonderful partners: Story Theatre, with their production of “Off the Shelf”, Star Star Theatre, with their production of “Raccoonaissance”, and Bonnie Duncan, with her work, “Squirrel Stole My Underpants!” There will be activities in Fernwood Square, food trucks, and free performances by Cam & Daisy.
On June 16th, thanks to the support of presenting sponsor the West Shore Arts Council, Kaleidoscope will be bringing the Family Theatre Festival to the West Shore for the first time! This one-day extension to the festival will be taking place at the Belmont Secondary School Theatre, running from 11:00am to 3:30pm. We will be joined by Story Theatre and long-time Kaleidoscope partner Paul Kilshaw, as well as our old friends Cam & Daisy.
Tickets for each show at the Family Theatre Festival are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Tickets to our Belfry productions can be purchased through the Belfry Theatre’s ticket site, and tickets to the West Shore productions can be purchased through the Kaleidoscope website.
