Zoubi (they/them) grew up on Hornby Island, BC. They play finger-style guitar, blending deep lyrics with simple, catchy melodies. Their sound has been compared to Alice Phoebe Lou and Big Thief. Zoubi enchants their audience with authentic personal anecdotes and when performing as a band, Zoubi and The Sea meld folk-pop tones with a gritty, jazzy swing. Between 2016-17, Zoubi and the Sea performed many West Coast music festivals and released an EP. They opened for Jon and Roy, Tara Lightfoot, Rising Appalachia, Carmanah and many others. After much local hype, Zoubi relocated to Toronto to study songwriting and performance. In 2020, they moved to Nelson where they stepped behind the scenes to work as a Live Sound Technician and earn a certificate in Music Production from Selkirk College. Today, Zoubi is back in Victoria, balancing school with performance, home recording and live sound.
