Play Streets is a world-wide movement to reclaim the streets for our kids and play, and our planning team has cooked up some lovely events for 2024. Join us on the 1600 block of Camosun Street. Big thank yous to the City for the My Great Neighbourhood Grant that will fund the series!

May 26 :: Community Potluck, 4:00 to 6:30pm  Face-painting, clowning, a stilt walker, and games. There’ll be a tea tour of the pollinator garden and art-making. And of course, good food and friendship. Bring a dish to share!

June 23 :: DIY Day – Make stuff and Fix stuff  1:00 to 3:30pm  Repair Cafes: bring your broken small appliances and beat-up bikes. Learn the art of repair while they are being repaired. Make art with salvaged materials. We’ll build a cardboard village with the kids!

July 28 :: Cool Trucks, Kids Maker Market, and Games 1:00 to 3:30pm  Vic Fire Fighters will bring a fire truck for us to explore. Fernwood kids, get making! You are invited to sell your wares at the Kids Maker Market. Also games of all kinds, water balloons, face painters, and a treasure hunt.

Sept 15 :: Stone soup and s’mores  1:00 to 3:30pm  We’ll make a big pot of soup together, and share it. We’ll enjoy great music and make a faery garden. Spend time in the pollinator garden and learn how to save seeds. Say our goodbyes to Summer, give our gratitude, and welcome in the Fall.
