Workshop Wednesday, September 24 from 7:00pm – 9:30pm
This workshop will offer an introduction to the amazing world of mushrooms and cover everything you need to know to grow your own mushrooms where you live. We’ll each inoculate a 5 gallon bucket of oyster mushrooms to take home-like in the picture!
Learning to grow mushrooms is a great way to grow your own food and medicine! Oyster mushrooms are a good source of protein, B vitamins, Vitamin D, iron and minerals, and have been shown to lower cholesterol and inhibit cancers.
This is an introductory workshop, total beginners welcome. Future workshops will go more in depth and include Growing Medicinal Mushrooms, Mycoremediation (healing land and water with fungi), and Mushrooms in the Garden.
Cost: $25-35
The workshop includes all the materials and spawn (pre-grown mycelium) you’ll need to grow tons of mushrooms at home for months to come. If you can’t afford the course fee, please contact me as I’d love for you to join us. No one will be turned away for lack of funds and there are also work trade opportunities. Kids are welcome and free! (Heads up the bucket may be hard to carry on a bike.)
Please register so I know how many materials to bring. Register with me at daniellestevenson@gmail.com or (250) 891-4927, or through personal message on Facebook. Space is limited!
Acknowledgment and gratitude to Fernwood NRG for supporting this event with their space!
